FICEBO welcomes one of its newest researchers with the arrival of Dr. Amir Sobhani, an Iranian orthopaedic surgeon and associate professor, specializing in orthopaedic surgery with a focus on shoulder and elbow conditions. He achieved first rank in the Iranian National Orthopaedic Board Examination in 2012.
He is an associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) in Tehran. His clinical and research work revolves around trauma surgery and shoulder/elbow pathology, including arthroscopy, arthroplasty, fracture management, and related clinical studies.
Dr. Sobhani has published more than 30 scientific articles and has been teaching students and orthopaedic residents for 13 years.
In a brief interview he explained what drew him to come to FICEBO.
“There are two main reasons of my move to Finland. One is I wanted better opportunities for my 11-year-old daughter who is studying here. The other is that FICEBO has a strong international reputation for conducting high quality, transparent and clinically meaningful research. Their focus on reporting standards, evidence methods and methodologically strong trials aligns very well with my values as a clinician.”
Further he added, “I think FICEBO is famous for its rigorous sham surgery trials. These kinds of trials are the ultimate reality check and give us the unvarnished truth.”
Amir said he likes Finland a lot and he says Finland is organized, supportive, and welcoming.
He will be working to get his licence to practice orthopaedics here in Finland.
