The 30th Annual FESSH Congress brought together around 2,000 participants in Helsinki, under the theme of innovation. Held in the recently renovated and iconic Finlandia Hall, the three-day meeting featured a packed scientific programme with multiple parallel sessions and hundreds of posters, making it one of the most significant events in hand surgery globally.

FICEBO made a broad and multifaceted contribution to the scientific programme, delivering both oral presentations and posters, with Teemu, Susanna, and Jarkko further contributing through their roles on the scientific committee and session moderation. The senior researcher roles of Teemu and Jarkko were particularly evident, with results and updates from several of their ongoing projects presented across different sessions. In addition, Teemu contributed to the JHSE Special Issue session, where he delivered a presentation on the use of orthobiology in bone healing and the reversal of joint and tendon degeneration.

Saara, Kati, and Teemu, together with Vieda Lusa (co-worker of Kati and Teemu) had earlier synthesized evidence on the efficacy of gabapentinoids in treating carpal tunnel syndrome. Saara presented the results of this recently published review, while Kati also contributed with a poster showcasing the soon-to-be-published findings of the FINTASY pilot trial.

FICEBO’s head Teppo Järvinen also contributed to the event by joining Teemu in leading an educational session: "Crash course on scientific literature". The session drew considerable attention as they discussed topics such as "RCT says it works, but does it really?" interpreting interventional RCTs and "How and what kind of questions clinical research is trying to answer?".

Overall, FICEBO’s strong presence at FESSH 2025 reflected the group’s commitment to advancing high-quality, evidence-based research in hand surgery.
