Mari Routapohja

Nurse, Clinical research coordinator

Who are you?

I am a endoprothesisnurse with almost 15 years of experience in working with orthopaedic patients. My daily job is in Turku University hospital / endoprothesis outpatient clinic. In Ficebo group I have been mainly working with FIRST project.

Favorite part of your job?

I am a very social or should I say people person who has a quite strong need to learn more every day. So which wouldn’t be a better way to combine these two things than being able to take care of our research patients and being part of a team who is all the time looking for something that can change the way we treat diseases or think

Why did you decide to enter your field?

Actually I didn’t, I was just in the right place at the right time. There was one “brave” orthopaedic who decided to rely on the inexperienced nurse’s help and then after a few mistakes, bead of sweat but also successes this nurse became a CRC.

Who/What inspires you?

Intelligent and curious people with a sense of humor.

Your favorite book and why?

I admire Neil Hardwick, a british born, Finnish theatre and TV director and writer, who has written a lot of columns and humorous articles about finnish people and lifestyle. His sharp but warm humor still makes me smile, every time. So not a book but a writer.
