Teemu Paatela

MD, Orthopaedic surgeon, PhD student

Who are you?
I’m the medical director of orthopaedics and traumatology at a private hospital called Terveystalo. I’m a lower extremity surgeon with a special interest in knee surgery. I’m also a cyclist and a triathlete, requiring an almost-daily dose of some sort of endurance sport. Above all, I prioritize the time that I have in spending time with my family.

What is your role in FICEBO?
I am a researcher in a trial designed to study the efficacy of arthroscopic interventions in the knee joint.

Favorite part of your job?
My favourite part is those special moments when I believe that I’ve achieved a common and thorough understanding with a patient on the health concern he/she has.

Why did you decide to enter your field?
I was seduced by the incredibly diverse range of medical questions that orthopaedics has to address.

Who/What inspires you?
People who are active and sincere in working towards their goals.
