FICEBO at ICSES (International Congress of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery)!

FICEBO visited the 14th International Congress of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The first ICSES congress was held in London 1980 and is nowadays a triennial event. Although not in the spotlight with our own research this time, we enjoyed taking the back row and listen to the presentations of our friends and collaborators: Andy Carr from Oxford, Hanna Björnsson-Hallgren from Linköping and Karl Wieser and Samy Bouaicha from Zürich – who also happen to be experts in finding the right steak house. In addition to great lectures (and steaks), the conference was a perfect opportunity to connect with our international research partners and discuss ongoing and future research projects.

Karl Wieser found a steak matching his research output in 2019!

The only Finnish contribution to the scientific program: Martti Vastamäki, hosting the session “Neurologic Problems About the Shoulder and Elbow”. Did you know that he is one of only two participants who attended all 14 ICSES meetings? In addition, he is a former member of the board and responsible for bringing the conference (back then called ICSS) to Finland in 1995.

The next ICSES congress will take place in Rome 2022. See you in Bella Italia, hopefully with some FICEBO contributions from our various Shoulder and Elbow projects!

Despite tight course schedule managed to get some impressions from Buenos Aires during an evening run.
